This Monkey's Gone To Heaven......

I've realized recently that I am becoming my mother. This realization is not due to "sounding" like her or suddenly looking in the mirror and seeing that I look like her. I was driving home from grocery shopping (alone....WHOO!!) the other day listening to my mp3 player and one of my favorite Pixies songs came on...... I blasted the radio and sang at the top of my lungs.

As I was wailing away in my car I realized that all of my absolute favorite songs are from the 80s and 90s......much like my ma's favorites are from the late 60s, 70s and early 80s.

OMG, I am my mother....version 2.0.

Now don't get me wrong I love new music and do own a lot of it but my "singing in the car at the top of my lungs" music is all from my pre-mommy days, which suddenly made me feel like my mother.

What's really funny is that as I get older I appreciate my mothers music more and more as well......I've even gone so far as to tell my hubby that until he could pop off the names of the 4 members of Led Zeppelin, I wasn't sure we could last another 11 years!!

Call me crazy but I guess I really don't mind "becoming" my mother......there are worse people I could become.

  1. i don't mind becoming my mom, either. only...i don't want to become the kvetch that she's become in her old age!! other than that...she's really cool!
cute post!! where the heck have you been, girlie?

  2. I'm glad you are ok becoming your mother. And the music you seem to like isn't all bad, I suppose.

    lurve ya!

  3. I don't think I'm becoming my Mother...Don't get me wrong, she's great, but we are very different. No...I am not my Mom. *phew* You made me think!

  4. Yep, I have those moments of realization, too. LOL! And my XM Satellite Radio stays on the 80's and 90's channels!!

  5. i'm resisting. RESISTING. dang. i didn't resist quite hard enough. sigh. okay.
    i heart barry manilow.

  6. Oh yeah,I can relate. I'm all about my 90s music.

But that does not mean I'm becoming my mother. That's a fact I REFUSE to accept. lol

  7. OMG - I think we're twins ;) I so love the pixies and totally sing them at the top of my lungs while in car alone (which so rarely happens!)!!!!
